Jason Smith
Jason, affectionately known as Jack and by a myriad of other nicknames only his closest friends can truly appreciate. Jason was an extraordinary human being who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jason was the embodiment of a true Aussie bloke. He possessed an unwavering love for life, reveling in good times and embracing hard work to provide for his family. His extensive circle of friends, a testament to his incredible character.
His love for his mother, Jackie, was immeasurable, and his bond with Owen, Anna, and Les was unbreakable. His cousins and childhood friends felt more like siblings, and he always cherished the countless hilarious childhood memories they shared.
Jason held deep respect for his aunts and uncles, who also played a significant role in shaping the man he became.
The Rax team and extended group of mates were like family. The loyalty and friendship he shared with all of you are rarities in life. The memories you created together will continue to be a source of laughter and joy for years to come.
His passions ran deep, his love of the car scene was lifelong, along with motorbikes and he proudly sported the blue and gold of a lifelong Parramatta supporter. No matter what, that man would never let anything get in the way of watching a footy game, not even our friend’s wedding. He never let them live down the fact that they decided to get married on Grand final night. In his words “it was so un-Australian”.
I was drawn to Jason from the moment we met, captivated by his bright blue eyes and that cheeky, infectious smile. He was playful yet caring, with a beautiful soft side and a strength that made me feel safe.
We uncovered numerous instances of "six degrees of separation" in our early years, a sign that our paths were aligned. These serendipitous connections assured me we were on the right journey together.
His life, one intertwined with mine, was filled with exhilarating party nights, rock concerts, drag strips, wild escapades, and unforgettable holidays.
I met Jason when his daughter, Cheyenne, was just eight years old. She was truly daddy's girl, and he relished sharing his love for cars and bikes with her. As she grew, she became an amazing big sister, poised to carry on his legacy of fast cars and burnout pads.
Many have described Jason as a male role model or even a father figure to so many in our lives, especially to our nieces, nephews, and his goddaughter. His life was a living embodiment of fun, laughter, and care taking.
Nothing was ever too much for Jason. Anytime someone was on our doorstep, the BBQ would start, the tunes would be cranked up and the beers would be flowing. Or he would find any excuse to make that happen.
Together, we crafted an amazing life, with me as the big dreamer and him as the dedicated worker turning those dreams into reality. From buying our home, moving in with Evie only 2 and a half years old and Zach only 4 weeks old, transforming the house within days, to purchasing a truck for his own business.
He worked tirelessly for us, and I am immensely proud of our shared accomplishments. Yet, our most precious achievements are our two beautiful children, Evie and Zacharie. Evie was the apple of his eye, and Zach, his undeniable mini-me. Although they faced the profound loss of their father at a young age, they were fortunate to have him as their dad for the time they did.
I'll miss the mischievous pranks he taught the kids, the fart jokes, and the playful random butt cheeks pressed against the glass of our sliding door, the tickle fights and intense laughter that always filled our home. I'll forever remember coming home from work one evening to find Zach seemingly chugging a bottle of beer, alongside his father, thankfully Zach’s was just juice in a beer bottle.
Above all else, he encouraged our children to be unapologetically themselves and raised them to be incredible little humans.
Cheyenne, Evie, and Zach, know that Dad will always be proud of you. His memory will forever live on in our hearts, just a thought away. We must cherish the fantastic moments we shared with him and remember that he is, and will always be, proud of each of you.
May we always envision him in a place where the beers flow endlessly, and Torana’s, those cars he dreamed of, are now part of his existence.
Jason, you are deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Cheers to you, and may your spirit forever race on in our hearts.
