In Loving Memory – Alma Frances Kennedy
Alma Frances Kennedy was a truly extraordinary woman.
Born, Alma Frances Vohland on the 12 February 1937 as a very healthy 10 pound plus baby to Arthur and Frances Vohland. She enjoyed her childhood playing with her siblings Beryl and Noel in the Dittmer gold fields.
In 1947 the Vohland family moved to Mt Isa and it’s here Alma shaped her life through her community spirit and started a family. She ran a successful business, become an avid cyclist and won many championships, was the president of Quota Club for many years and was even the local Avon lady. Another career achievement Alma was very proud of was her role as Finance Officer at the QLD Ambulance Service where she worked for over 25 years. Alma resided in Mt Isa for 76 years.
Alma was blessed with 4 children (John, Linda, Michelle & Ron), 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and to her family, she was known by many names - Mum, Nana, Nan, Noo, Nana K, Al and Aunty Alma. Alma’s other great role was being a loving partner to George.
Alma’s laughter was infectious and her spirit unyielding. She truly had a gift to connect to people, understand them, make them feel special and like they mattered.
Alma taught us all the importance of resilience, the power of kindness, and the value of integrity. But most importantly, she was our guiding light.
Alma’s final wish was to be laid to rest in Buderim near her mum.
May her sprit find eternal peace, and may we carry the lessons she taught us forward with grace and gratitude.
